American Muslims will respond to pastor Terry Jones’ planned burning of 3000 copies of Quran on September 11, 2013. What will Muslims do? How will Muslims behave?
Muslims believe in absolute free speech, perhaps in the same percentage as any other group of people be it religious or political. We have no intentions to criticize, condemn or oppose Pastor Terry Jones’ free expression.
It will be a peaceful sit in and prayers for the well being of the society. We pray and together we commit to build a cohesive America where no American has to live in apprehension, discomfort or fear of a fellow American.
Violence is not a behavior taught by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Jesus or any spiritual Master, it is the human weaknesses, fears and insecurities that cause individuals to be violent and mis-behave towards fellow beings.
This event will remind pockets of Muslims elsewhere in the world that violence is not the way. Most will get, some won’t. This event will also remind fellow humanity of the world that unless we speak up, and support each other in creating goodness, things will not change. Indeed, that is the case with people in every religious, political, social and cultural groups.
Bud Gillette of CBS News Dallas will bring the breaking news over the weekend, and then the full article will appear in a major news paper and here on this site.
