Congress Party welcomes Deoband’s anti-terrorism fatwa

Mumbai: Welcoming the anti-terrorism fatwa from the Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband, the Congress Party on 28th February demanded Hindu organizations to pass similar resolution against extremism and terrorism.
Addressing a press conference, Maharashtra Congress Party spokesman Mohammad Husain Dalwai said the nation should jointly face the evil of terrorism.
On 25th February, Deoband seminary organized a daylong all India anti-terrorism conference which unanimously passed the resolution calling terrorism an anti-Islam act. He said Ulema representing all schools of Islamic thought favored the resolution and this proved that the majority of Indian Muslims was against terrorism. He alleged that Hindu organizations were hatching a conspiracy to defame Muslims on pretext of terrorism.
Maulana Mahmood Madani, general secretary of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, hailed Dalwai for the statement from the Congress platform.
